Larvae. Cocoons. Butterflies

Eva received a butterfly kit from her friend Brody for her birthday in March. We cared for the butterfly larvae when they arrived in the mail (which the girls anticipated every day that we checked the mail). Upon their arrival we watch them grow and grow. I swear the larvae doubled in size almost immediately and then tripled in size. Soon they created their own cocoon and about 10 days later out popped 5 butterflies. In these photos you can see the kids letting the butterflies go. Our neighbor Avery showed Lila how to old the butterflies. It was a very fun gift and science project for the McGeachy Girls.
