Sensitive Skin

Poor Lila has had a rash all week. I'm almost positive it's because we changed from a fragrant smelling, yet super sensitive shampoo to the non-fragrant smelling version of the same brand. Ironic? Our doctor said, "WOW that's quite a rash!" but agreed that it must be the change in shampoo. Anyway, she's looking better and it didn't bother her but it looked REALLY bad. She keeps telling us she has polka-dots on her tummy. I think she likes them!

When I was pregnant with Eva I said of course I wanted a happy, healthy baby but if I could just ask for one more thing I would like a baby who has tough (not sensitive) skin. So far, we've been lucky with Eva, she does seem to have great skin. Lila comes by her super sensitive skin honestly as Scott and I both are sensitive too.

Bed Head

Lila's hair is getting a little bit longer and she's starting to get bed head. We've been joking with her about it. I'm not sure she thinks its that funny.

Bed head!

Quoting Lila: Work Sweats

On Thursday while I was driving the girls to school Lila says to me, "Mama, you're not wearing your work sweats today?" I about drove off the road I was laughing so hard. Most mornings I wear workout clothes so that I can get a run in sometime during the day. On Thursdays however, it's my day off from working out so I was wearing a sweater and jeans. Impressionable young lady we have on our hands!

Lila's First...

Lila had her first independent play date today. She went with Erik, Maria and the boys (our neighbors) to JJ Jump and spent the afternoon at their house (even nap time). Lila had a fantastic time and I enjoyed a much needed day with Eva and some college friends. Scott of course worked. :(

Here is Lila with her new backpack getting ready to head out the door.

This is Lila's new favorite shirt. Ama McGeachy made it for her (drew the elephant and all).

My Little Princesses

Lila and Eva playing dress-up with their hats from Aunt Lila. Oh the hats are so beautiful. The girls love them!

Lila 'helping' Eva with her hat!

Oh to be so young and carefree. The girls are really starting to have fun together. I catch them regularly making each other laugh. It's so heartwarming (as opposed to the other end of the spectrum which happens too!).

Eva's getting her move-on. She's got her very own unique way of getting around and it includes scooting across the floor. She's fast and efficient which makes me think she may never crawl.

Swinging

Lila and Eva needed a quick breath of fresh air and it WASN'T raining so we went to the park. Oh how I love the park and love to swing. The girls thankfully enjoy it too as you can see.

Eva is 10 Months Old Today!

Our baby is growing up, she's hit the double digits.

Dad's Home

Scott made it home in time to catch the end of dinner on Monday. Hooray! Both girls missed him so much they insisted in sitting on his lap for dinner.

Thanks Uncle Jim!

Eva and Lila got one more Christmas gift in the mail this week from my cousin Jim. Isn't this butterfly sweatsuit cute? Eva has a matching one!

Who me...sick?

Eva was sick this week running a really high temperature of 103 but you wouldn't know it by her personality. She got sick on Sunday with a high temp and no other symptoms. She finally got better and went back to school on Thursday. Needless to say Eva and I hung out a lot this week and while she slept (which was a lot) I worked and otherwise we played. Eva really enjoyed trying out Lila's toys while she was gone at school as you can see from the photo below.

Look at me mom I can pull myself up!

Breakfast time with Dad

Lila and Eva enjoy making breakfast with Scott. On Saturdays I go for a run and Scott, Lila and Eva make and eat breakfast. Blueberry pancakes are their favorite. In these photos, Lila and Eva are cracking each other up. Oh let the sibling fun begin!

Lila Learns to make Manicotti

Cute Baby Bums

What cute baby bums! Eva and her two friends Austin and Brody are all scooting around and since they were all wearing blue jeans we thought we'd take a quick photo. Guess which one is Eva? Okay, yes the one with the hearts for pockets. 100% girl.

Lila's Chasing Boys

Lila, Eva and I went to the park this morning. It was cold but worth it because they had a great time and both are exhausted from playing and the cold weather. We met Scott for lunch in downtown Portland and Lila promptly told her dad, "I was chasing older boys at the park." Which is true! She ran circles around the Washington Park playground chasing an older boy...maybe all of about 3.

It's going to be a LONG spring...

We have entered a long stretch of dad-less days. Scott is tied up preparing for two criminal trials at work until mid-May. It makes me very sad that he won't see the girls every single day. It's hard on all of us.

I'm working hard to maintain some sort of 'life' for Lila, Eva and I by making plans with family and friends. We've made plans to fly to Idaho and see Scott's parent in February. Lila is super excited to go on an airplane to see Poppy and Ama. I'm putting together a list of things the girls and I want to (and can do without Scott). It's a hard job keeping Lila busy, busy, busy as she would say. Stay tuned to see what the next 5 months brings.

At the same time I'm training to run a marathon. It's my secret way of etching out some alone time and keeping Scott home at least one weekend morning for a couple of hours. And, it seems to be working.

Regardless of all of this I have an open position at our house for a laundry folder, dishwasher emptier, dog poop picker upper and pleasant dinner conversationalist. The pay you ask? Well free of course! ;)

Oh and Lila's kitchen/playroom is open for playdates Friday-Sunday.

Sippy Cup

Eva is an eating, drinking machine lately. Here she's making mommy proud by drinking water from a sippy cup. She is really getting the hang of it all!

This week Eva ate more dinner than Lila each night with the biggest dinner being half of a bbq chicken sandwich. I can not believe how much this little one can put away. She hates baby food, doesn't like anything I puree but give her some real food, something she can put in her mouth by herself and she goes to town. She eats pretty much everything we eat now and loves food with a lot of flavor. It's so fun to watch her palate develop. We've been blessed with great eaters!

*Its not often that we see glimpses of Eva looking like someone in the family but in this photo she reminds me of me. When I was about 1 we have a photo that looks like this. Nice to know she's related. :)

Lila the Little Photographer

Lila watches me take photos all of the time so she wanted to take Eva's and my picture. She actually did a GREAT job and eventually captured one of my favorite photos of Eva and I. Thought I would share some of the good photos and some of the funny one's. There were many more funny photos but not to bore you...

I love this photos! I'm going to use Lila for all of our photo taking from now on.

Matt has Big Pants to Fill

Our friends Matt and Kim recently took over their parents business. Scott wanted to congratulate Matt with a special gift. In this photo Scott giving a speech prior to Matt opening his special gift.

He sure has some big pants to fill now that he's a business owner!

Swimming Fun

Doesn't this look like fun? We went to the Firstenburg Community Center on 12/31 to play in the water. It was soooo much fun. Scott, Lila, Eva and I all went with our friends Matt, Kim and Brody Newcombe. We all swam and played for over an hour. Below is a photo of the fun pool.

Brody and Eva ~ it's a little blurry but still worth posting. Aren't they cute?

Christmas with the Pellicani's

Lila joyfully helped make manicotti with all of the Italian sisters (Michele, Scott's mom is the oldest of 5 sisters). In this photo Aunt Lauri, Sophie, Aunt Linda and Lila.

Christmas Night at the Shrum's

We spent Christmas night at my parents house and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with my parents and bother's family. My Grandma Shrum wasn't feeling well so Scott, Lila, Eva, my brother Tony and Morgen went over and caroled outside her house.

My mom started a new tradition...putting the boys to work in the kitchen! In this photo Scott, my dad and my brother.
Eva really enjoyed Christmas dinner. If you've ever watched her eat she gets into her food and this was no exception...she has mashed potato all over her face but the camera didn't capture half of it.

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning at our house started around 8:30, late by all accounts. It took us hours to open our presents and honestly we didn't finish opening presents until the 29th. It's not that we had that many gifts but the girls wanted to play with the first present that they opened. It was a delightful morning with lots of fun for our little family.

Our tree all decked out with presents from Santa.

Our Family Christmas Morning

Lila and Eva on Christmas Morning (2 1/2 and 9 months)

Lila got a vacuum for Christmas.
She loves to use her vacuum I only wish I had gotten her a real one.

Lila asked Santa for a cupcake and a bell for Christmas.
Here is a photo of Lila with her jingle bell.

The girls got these beautiful hats from Aunt Lila and Uncle Tom from Michigan. Aren't they cute? Thanks Tom and Lila!
