Quick Update

I realize that I have not blogged in a while. Rest assured…it’s not because we haven’t had any fun photos to post or stories to tell…I’ve just been swamped. Swamped with fun activities, weekends away, trying to figure out the whole ‘free’ cooking thing, medical procedures for me and the list goes on…literally. I won’t bore you with everything in one relatively photoless post.

A few quick updates for those of you who follow the blog regularly. Lila’s skin isn’t MUCH better like we had hoped. Scott and I attribute it more to the products we’ve used such as sunscreen than the food she eats. We’ve only used sunscreen on her a couple of times this year and her skin just erupts. We’ve even bought wheat-soy-dairy free sun block and it still reacts. What gives? It’s probably better at this point to keep her out of the sun or let her get a little color than to put it on her again. That said, it’s suppose to be 87 here today and she’s at school so we have less control over the situation. I had really hoped by now…day 26 of being wheat-soy-dairy free we would see more improvement. If I could draw any conclusions I do think that the products we put on her skin or that she comes in contact with have a big impact on her skin. This will only get easier to manage as she gets older. Regardless Lila is a trooper. Yesterday on our car ride home from Bend, Oregon Eva tried to hand Lila a fishy cracker (previously Lila’s favorite food) and Lila said to Eva, “No thank you Eva, I can’t have fishes cause their not wheat-free.”

I had my liver biopsy last Wednesday. It was a much longer process than I had anticipated in that I was at the hospital from 8am – 3pm but it wasn’t too invasive, painful, etc. I’m meeting with my doctor on Wednesday for the results. My guess/hope is that my liver enzymes are just naturally higher than what’s considered normal. :)

In the meantime the photo above is from our recent drive over the mountains to Bend, Oregon to visit some friends. We had a fabulous weekend and have many more photos to share. We also went to the beach the weekend before and have some fun stories and photos to share. Stay tuned.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Cheers!

The Park is OURS!

We've been lucky the last couple of weekends to play at the park in the morning by ourselves. We are there first thing in the morning, hence the PJ's, when no one else is out and about. Below Parker and Sampson assume their position watching us all play.

Scott and the girls on the tire swing.

Eva is all over the play structure now climbing, crawling and walking everywhere.

My teeter-tooter partner!

Yes, that is blue sky. It's finally warmed up here in the Portland area. Today it was near triple digits. I'm loving the heat since we've had a mild spring and summer thus far. Bring it on!

Anything Cuter?

Awe, is there anything cuter?

Cooking

Lila and I got busy in the kitchen making meatballs. We made a double batch and put some in our new (hand-me-down) deep freezer. I love having extra food on hand for those days that are a little rushed.
*BIG thanks to the Bruce's for handing us down their freezer. We are really going to be needing all the extra space with Lila's 'free' diet. It could not have come at a better time. Thank you!
