Road Trip

Our road trip was really, really fun. We stayed one night in Ashland, Oregon and then drove the rest of the way to Lake Tahoe where we stayed at the Grand Residence Club. It was a fabulous place for our trip. 

  

We hiked up to Eagle Lake which was beautiful. The weather couldn't have been better, mid 70's so not too hot but nice and sunny. I actually got a sunburn! Apparently with the high elevation the sun is a little more intense. The hike was just over a mile in to the lake but had a pretty good climb in elevation (starting elevation was 7000 feet!).

In order to save $5 we parked along the road just like everyone else. If you wanted front row parking you could fork over $5 and use the parking lot. Of course if you know Scott that was not an option.

 

At Eagle Lake we had our own private view of the lake. It was beautiful!

It was private until two ducks joined us for lunch and they wouldn't leave. Apparently they have been fed by some other hikers.

Driving around Lake Tahoe can be treacherous. Most of the time it was fine but I found this stretch of road to be intimidating. Both sides of the road went straight down as if you were driving along a ridge.

We had a PERFECT anniversary. Scott got me a spa package at the Resort at Spa Creek in Squaw Valley. I convinced him to come to the spa too so that we could both hang out at the pool, hot tub, etc. It was really nice. Squaw Valley is where the 1960 winter Olympics were held so we decided to stay in the village area, shop around and have lunch. We had lunch at Plump Jack (yes, same company as the winery!). Lunch on the back patio was quaint and delicious. It was sunny, warm and yummy, yummy, yummy. Then we headed back to South Lake Tahoe to relax for the afternoon. We had dinner at a small and popular Italian restaurant that had 7 tables, Cafe Fiore. It was TINY but oh so delicious. Happy TENTH Anniversary to us! Cheers.

Of course our road trip was not without a few traffic issues. On the way there we got caught up in multiple road construction projects. Below are a few photos!
