Both girls helped decorate the gingerbread boys with me. They turned out great. Lila and Eva worked hard to make sure that they all had smiles and not frowns. Sweet girls.

Soccer!
The girls are both playing soccer and doing really well. Lila regularly scores goals in her soccer games and is an excellent defender. Her skills and internal drive have both developed over the past 3-6 months, it's rewarding to watch her develop in this way. Anyway, enough bragging. Here are some photos of Lila's soccer game from today.
Eva is also developing into a little soccer player too. She has scored several goals already this season. Scott is coaching her team and we are so lucky to have a fantastic group of kids and parents on their team. It makes coaching a team much easier.
She scored!
She's so happy.

The Making of a Cake
Keeping with tradition my mom makes birthday cakes for the girls and the opposite sister helps. Eva helped Nana with Lila's birthday cake yesterday. Are't they so pretty?

Surprise! Lila's 6th Birthday Party
We did it. We hosted a surprise party for Lila with 6 of her girlfriends. Lila has been asking for a surprise birthday party for six months...today we delivered on that. SURPRISE sweet Lila Anne!
We made puppets, painted nails, ate pizza and the girls played outside. Surprisingly they also played football, basketball and tag all while prancing around in their pjs. Cute girls.

Old Dog
Our poor Sampson has really gone down hill over the past ten days. We often comment that Sam acts as if he is a two year old dog even though he is 9.5.
After nearly daily communication with the vet, multiple vet appointments and x-rays today we learned that Sampson has arthritis in his spine. The vet said on a scale it's a 7 out of 10 in terms of severity. He most likely has a pinched nerve or two and its causing him a lot of pain. He hops around on three legs mostly and moves his hind end gently. He turned into an old dog overnight.
Our vet gave us massive doses of pain medication to see if we can get Sampson comfy and hopefully see some improvement in the next 24-48 hours. He will be on pain meds for the rest of his life.
Poor Sampson literally cried himself to sleep the other night. We felt so bad for him it breaks both of our hearts.
This morning Scott took Sampson to the vet. Parker was distraught in the backyard barking and whining. That upset Eva who went into the laundry room to get away from the sound of sad Parker. I found Eva in the laundry room crying big alligator tears. Sad, sad and sad.
Sampson's meds. The one with the smiley face (Scott drew that) is suppose to be a great pain med that works wonders for some dogs. Lets hope it works great for Sam. To be continued.
